New? Here's What To Expect

We offer community-style acupuncture

At Boise Acupuncture Co-op you’ll receive a personalized acupuncture treatment from a licensed acupuncturist in a comfortable recliner - don't worry, we can still treat your back/hip pain! Our treatment room is personable, warm and relaxing. Each one of our patients helps to create a respectful community space for healing. One reason we do this is to keep our prices low, making regularly scheduled appointments available for regular folks.

How your first visit works

-Try to arrive 10 min before your appointment. Walking through the door, you will be greeted by a front-desk volunteer and asked to fill out our electronic intake form. If you want to print the form and fill it out beforehand, you can do that here.

-Our front-desk volunteer will ask for a sliding scale payment of $25-50 for your first time (this becomes $15-40 for follow-ups). We accept cash, check, all major credit cards and Health Savings Accounts.

-You’ll head back to the spacious, dimly lit and relaxing treatment room. Help yourself to fuzzy blankets, cough drops, and ear plugs. Choose any open and tidy chair, recline and relax.

-Your acupuncturist will review your information and health complaint(s), then meet you at your recliner to talk to you about your goals quietly.

-After the needles are inserted and you are warm and cozy, you are invited to relax for as long as you would like. On average patients rest for 45-60 minutes, but it’s ultimately up to you. When you are ready to get up, your acupuncturist will remove your needles and recommend a treatment plan for you.

“My acupuncturist was absolutely wonderful! Knowing it was my first time, she explained the process completely and was very informative on how I might feel afterwards as well as a probable timeline. I plan to be back for treatment!”

We all help to create a shared healing space

-Silence your phone, enter the clinic quietly, and use a soft voice to help preserve the calm environment.

-Do not wear cologne, perfume, or strong smelling body products. If you smoke, please refrain from smoking right before your appointment.

-If you'd like, bring headphones and listen to your own music or a meditation. We have white noise makers and there is ambient music quietly playing in the background.

-Wear loose clothing that can be rolled up to your knees and elbows. We have extra skirts, shorts and wraps for you to use as well.

-Be considerate of other patients. Our clinic is open and welcome to everyone- we request that you make every effort to help us in this mission.

Our cancellation policy

For your convenience, we have a 12-hour cancellation policy. We often have a waiting list of patients- last minute cancellations affect our ability to reach those who need us.

Appointments canceled with less than 12 hours notice, or are missed altogether, are responsible for $15 due at the next visit.

Our mission is to provide affordable acupuncture services in a community setting- serving everyone in the community regardless of their income. If you are unable to pay the cancellation fee, please let us know.
