A Guide to Our Sliding Scale

Our mission at BAC is to provide affordable, accessible and effective acupuncture to all people.
In order for acupuncture to be effective, you need to be able to get treatment regularly and often. We are able to offer our treatments at a lower price than many conventional acupuncture clinics by seeing a lot of people every week. In fact, the more people we see, the less we need to charge per treatment.
BAC is currently seeing about 250 appointments each week. In order to keep BAC healthy at that volume (aka the lights on and the acupunks paid) we need to average $40 per person per treatment.
So, why don’t we just charge a $40 flat rate?
Good question, and there is a good answer!
There may be a time in your life, or in the lives of your neighbors, when $40+ per treatment isn’t accessible. Maybe you sustain an injury and need to acupuncture 3-4 times per week, putting you outside your means. Maybe you hit financial hard times, and acupuncture once per week at $30 is all you can afford. Conversely, maybe you receive a windfall and are ready to give back to others. The sliding scale is designed to flex with you as your needs change.

Understanding Our Sliding Scale
Paying $50+… helps us keep the low end at $30 and allows BAC to save and GROW!
Paying $40… sustains BAC and keeps the doors open!
Paying $30… makes it possible for more people (you, my friend!) to get acupuncture!
What you choose to pay is always up to you, and may change depending on your life situation and how frequently you are getting acupuncture. We will never question what you choose to pay.
If you are still scratching your head, here are some recommendations to help you determine what to pay on the sliding scale:

How Do I Know What To Pay?
$50+
I am comfortably able to meet my basic needs (housing, food, transportation).
I am employed or do not need to work to meet my needs.
I can purchase things I want without significant financial stress.
$40
I am able to meet my basic needs, though I may sometimes feel stress around finances.
I am employed or have a stable fixed income.
I can purchase non-essentials with mindful budgeting.
$30
I feel stress about meeting basic needs.
I am on a fixed income, underemployed, or unemployed.
Purchasing non-essentials often feels out of reach.
What you choose to pay is always up to you and may change depending on your life situation and how frequently you are getting acupuncture.
We will never ask for income verification or question what you choose to pay.
