Acupuncture is safe, natural and effective

We treat specific acu-points in the body with thin, solid, sterile, one-time use needles to help calm your nervous system and activate your body’s innate ability to heal.

Acupuncture is clinically proven to reduce pain and inflammation, ease stress and anxiety, regulate hormones, adjust sleep patterns, improve digestion, boost the immune system, strengthen the cardiovascular system, prepare the body for pregnancy and much, much more. We provide an affordable, holistic approach to countless conditions with no serious side effects in a welcoming environment.

We treat in recliners

At Boise Acupuncture Co-op (BAC) you’ll receive a personalized acupuncture treatment from a licensed acupuncturist in a comfortable recliner - don't worry, we can still treat your back/hip pain! Our treatment room is personable, warm, and relaxing.

BAC is built by community, for community

Being a community acupuncture clinic is more than just an arrangement of chairs, it is a mutual relationship with you - our community.

When you get treatment at BAC, you’re not just supporting your own health journey, you’re helping sustain a model that makes acupuncture accessible for our whole community. Your visits directly power our ability to keep treatments affordable, maintain consistent hours, and reduce barriers for all.

How your first visit works

  • If you haven’t completed your intake form ahead of time, please arrive about 10 minutes early. When you walk in, you’ll be greeted by our receptionist.

  • Feel free to use the restroom before your treatment if needed.

  • Head back to the treatment room, where you can help yourself to bolsters, blankets, cough drops, and earplugs. Choose any open, tidy recliner, settle in, and get comfortable.

  • Your acupuncturist will review your intake form and meet you at your chair for a quiet conversation about your goals. They will explain the treatment process and what to expect before starting to place acupoints. We take your needs and preferences seriously - honoring your comfort and any boundaries you may have every step of the way.

  • Once needles are placed, we offer heat lamps to make sure you stay warm and cozy. You’re invited to rest for up to an hour - most people relax for 45–60 minutes, but the length of your rest is always up to you. Let your acupuncturist know if you need to be up by a certain time.

  • If you need anything, or when you’re ready to get up, simply make eye contact with your acupuncturist. At the end of your treatment, they will remove your needles and share a treatment plan with you.

We all help to create a shared healing space

  • Please silence your phone, enter quietly, and use a soft voice to help preserve the calm environment.

  • To support those with sensitivities, avoid wearing cologne, perfume, or strongly scented body products. If you smoke, please refrain from smoking right before your appointment.

  • You’re welcome to bring headphones and listen to whatever you’d like. We provide white noise and gentle ambient music in the background.

  • Wear loose clothing that can roll up to your knees and elbows. We also have skirts, shorts, and wraps available for you to use. Please do not undress in the treatment room - we only need to access your arms, legs, head, and neck to provide effective treatment.

  • Be considerate of others. Our clinic is open and welcome to everyone. We request that you make every effort to help us in this mission.
