What Does Acupuncture Treat?

Updated: Dec 8, 2018

The simple answer:

Pretty much everything!

The detailed answer:

Acupuncture treats you as a whole person rather than just treating your symptoms. We see symptoms as warning signs from your body that there is an underlying imbalance in the body’s systems. Some of these imbalances are deeply rooted and lead to chronic and debilitating conditions, others are more superficial and lead to more common complaints like back pain or headaches. Both can be treated safely by acupuncture.

Here is a list of the more common complaints we treat at BAC:

  • Chronic and acute pain of all parts of the body, numbness or weakness, neuropathy, neuralgia, arthritic conditions, fibromyalgia, Bell's Palsy, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery, headaches, migraines, TMJ, traumatic brain injuries/concussions

  • Systemic: Chronic fatigue, auto-immune diseases, hormonal imbalances, adrenal fatigue, fibromyalgia, diabetes, cancer treatment support, dementia

  • Cardiovascular: hypertension, a-fib, arrhythmia, post-stroke recovery, anemia, cold extremities, edema

  • Digestion: irritable bowel, Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, indigestion, acid reflux, constipation, diarrhea, hernias, ulcers, liver gallbladder and pancreatic disorders

  • Menstrual: PMS, painful periods, endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, fertility support, amenorrhea, heavy menstrual bleeding, irregular periods, morning sickness

  • Respiratory: chronic or acute cough, wheezing, frequent infections, allergies, colds, flu, hayfever, sinus problems, post-nasal drip, ear infections

  • Skin: eczema, psoriasis, itching, redness, acne, hard to heal sores

  • Emotional: anxiety, depression, insomnia, chronic tension and stress, and addictions

  • Genito-urinary: chronic yeast infections, cystitis, urinary urgency, incontinence, erectile dysfunction, lack of libido, genital pain, dryness, kidney disease
