BAC Is Facing Financial Challenges…
Since opening our clinic doors in 2014, BAC’s number one priority has been to provide affordable and accessible acupuncture to the community. We have grown the reach of our nonprofit significantly over the years - most recently hiring two acupuncturists to expand our hours in Boise and opening a pop-up clinic in Nampa.
Though we felt confident that increasing our capacity would be met with enough patient visits to sustain this growth, this has not been the case.
Now, like many local nonprofits, small businesses, and community members struggling with rising uncertainty, BAC is under strain. After operating at a financial deficit this past year, we’ve reached a point where we must make tough tough decisions and call on our community to help keep BAC alive and thriving.
Please read on for our action plan + ways you can help!
Sliding Scale Price Increase
With a mission to make acupuncture accessible for our community, we remain committed to providing a sliding scale and no-questions-asked financial access. We don’t take raising our rates lightly. However, to continue offering high-quality care, seven days a week, we must increase our prices.
Effective January 1, 2026:
Returning appointments: $30-65 sliding scale
New patient appointments: $50-85 sliding scale
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations with less than 12 hours’ notice, or missed altogether, will be charged the corresponding minimum sliding-scale payment.
Even with this adjustment, acupuncture treatments at BAC remain 75% more affordable than most other providers in the Treasure Valley!
Clinic Cutbacks
BAC is proud to offer living wages, health insurance, and paid time off to five full-time employees. Our acupuncturists receive a set rate per shift, regardless of the number of patients they see. To help our beloved clinic secure financial stability, our employees have agreed to a pay reduction. Our team cares deeply for our community and is committed to helping BAC remain a dependable source of care.
We're also making difficult decisions with our part-time team. It is with heavy hearts that we announce Eunice’s upcoming departure from her front desk position. Her supportive and proactive spirit will be greatly missed and we wish her the very best in her next chapter. Starting in February, we will also be closing one of Katy’s shifts and adjusting the Boise schedule - we will have more details for your about these schedule changes in our next newsletter.
Let’s Take a Deep Breath
These decisions are challenging and painful, but necessary to sustain BAC into the future. We’ve made it through uncertainty before, and know we will make it to the other side together!
Thank you for being part of a shared healing space that lifts one another up in both moments of ease and challenge. We are so grateful for your trust, your patience, and your presence.
